Privacy Policy

BabySorted ("we", "us", "our") is a UK-based baby product comparison website. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit babysorted.com, how we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

1. Who we are

2. What data we collect

2a. Visitors without an account

When you visit our site, standard server and hosting logs may automatically record:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited and time of visit
  • Referring website

This data is collected by our hosting provider (Netlify) for security and operational purposes. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.

2b. Registered users

If you create an account on BabySorted, we collect and store the following personal data:

  • Email address — used to identify your account and for authentication
  • Password — stored in hashed form only; we never see your plaintext password
  • Favourites — products, guides, and articles you save (item name, URL, image)
  • Browsing history — products and articles you view while logged in (item name, URL, image, timestamp)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and profile name from Google as permitted by their OAuth flow. We do not receive your Google password.

You can delete your favourites and history at any time from your account page. To delete your account entirely, contact us at elizaveta.o.mk@gmail.com.

3. Cookies

We do not currently use tracking or advertising cookies. If you use your browser's "remember filters" feature (via URL parameters we store in the page address), no cookie is set — the data stays in your browser's address bar only.

If we introduce analytics or advertising cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the site:

  • Netlify — website hosting (Ireland/US). May process server log data. Netlify Privacy Policy
  • Supabase — database and authentication provider (EU). Stores product data, and if you create an account: your email, hashed password, favourites, and browsing history. Supabase Privacy Policy
  • Awin — affiliate marketing network. If you click through to a retailer via an affiliate link, Awin may set a cookie on the retailer's website. Awin Privacy Policy

Product links on BabySorted may be affiliate links. This means we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. Prices and availability are sourced directly from each retailer.

5. Legal basis for processing

We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

  • Contract — processing your email and account data to provide the account service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interests — server logs held by Netlify to operate a secure and functional website
  • Consent — where you choose to save favourites or allow browsing history to be recorded

6. How long we keep data

Account data (email, favourites, history) is retained for as long as your account exists. You may delete individual items at any time from your account page. To close your account and have all data deleted, email us at elizaveta.o.mk@gmail.com.

Netlify's server log retention is governed by their own policy. Product data in our database contains no personal information.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to processing or request restriction
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) at ico.org.uk

8. Children's privacy

BabySorted is intended for use by parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
